Bike Ride – The Empowerment Challenge

When:  June 1-June 9th

What: A Unique trip off the beaten path in Nicaragua on bikes.  

Why?  To raise funds for Empowerment International’s Educational Programs while seeing the most remote and beautiful  areas in Nicaragua and get to ride with our bike club kids!

Cost:  $1800 ($700 initial deposit required)

The Ride:  The ride will start and end in Granada, Nicaragua, the oldest colonial city in the America’s (1524) and will circumnavigate  part way around Lake Nicaragua, the 10th largest fresh water body of water in the western hemisphere, proceed to Ometepe and circumnavigate the volcanoes, dip along the coastline and return back to Granada.  Most of the ride will be in areas of little to no tourism and we will be staying in a variety of lodging ranging from modern, to basic but comfortable.  It will take 7 days and will be approximately 350 miles.

What will be provided: a guided tour by our young cycling team, 3 meals a day,  basic but comfortable lodging (double occupancy),  purified water, sag wagon wherever the terrain permits, airport transfers to and from Granada.

You will need to bring:  your bike, cycling clothes, an open mind and great attitude.

Note: flights are not included.

Portrait Photography Workshop with Melissa Palomo

Portrait and pet photographer Melissa Palomo will lead this amazing workshop which is a combination of working alongside  our young photographers and photographing the beautiful people around Nicaragua in their natural and beautiful surroundings.  If you are a portrait photographer this is not to be missed!  Specific times and dates are still being determined.  If you are interested, please contact Melissa or Empowerment International, and we’ll keep you posted.

Portrait Photography Workshop

January 6th – January 12th 2013

Portrait and pet photographer Melissa Palomo will lead this amazing workshop which is a combination of working alongside  our young photographers and photographing the beautiful people around Nicargua in their natural and beautiful surroundings.  If you are a portrait photographer this is not to be missed!

The Giving Lens  Nicaragua Trip!

February 3rd-9th, 2013

Work with the EI photography students, while also learning along side of them with our amazing teachers,  professional photographers, Jay & Varina Patel.  This trip will give you a perspective on Nicaragua you will not get just anywhere. You will see the real Nicaragua along with the colonial, picturesque town of Granada, in beautiful Nicaragua.
$1950 plus airfare ($1250 for a non-participating spouse/partner)

There, participants will work side by side with underprivileged, impoverished youth, working hand-in-hand to help them learn the basics of photography as a means of expression, communication, therapy, and as a creative outlet. The group will do workshops with Jay & Varina Patel, exploring the culture and the countryside and the breathtaking sites around Granada. You will grow as a photographer. You will grow as a person.

Trip fee is $1950 USD and includes all meals, comfortable lodging in double rooms, and all ground transportation. Trip fee does not include flights, medical insurance, or alcoholic beverages.

Parent/Child Education and Adventure Tour

March 23-March 30th

Explore Nicaragua inside and out with EI’s students and team.  This trip will offer you and your chld a life changing experience.  Not only will you see the colonial, picturesque town of Granada, Nicaragua, surrounding volcanoes, explore islets in the 10th largest lake in the Americas along side of some of the program participants in Empowerment International, you will also get to experience life as 80% of the country lives.  We will visit and interact with out rural community and our urban community in a meaningful way for all involved.  By participating in this trip you are giving our community an opportunity to raise funds for the EI Programs while sharing their country with you.  In addition you are giving some of the kids an chance to see many sites they would never get to see otherwise!

$2000 plus airfare for one parent and one child. Contact us for addtional children or guardians.

Trip fee is $2000 USD and includes all but 3 dinners (on your own in town), comfortable lodging in double rooms, and all ground transportation. Trip fee does not include flights, medical insurance, alcoholic beverages, or optional zip line tour.
